Purpose: The purpose of the Commission on the HISD Takeover is to address the growi ng lack of trust in the state takeover and Mike Miles by thoroughly investigating the current conditions within HISD. It is

• Focused on, but not limited to, student outcomes and wellness, teacher retention, safety, facilities, and finances. 
• Supported by data collection, current and archival, and a series of public hearings

Expected Product: One or more reports to share with the media that

• Make clear and public the impacts of the TEA Takeover.
• Raise national awareness of frequency and impact of hostile takeovers.​
• Answer the questions:
  • How do we return HISD to local control in a form that serves the community? 
  • What is the new form of education we want our children to have when we return it to local control?​​
